Beaufort Gears Up for Wreaths Across America Day!

Coordinators are already hard at work to ensure that every grave in the Beaufort National Cemetery receives a beautiful remembrance wreath, but there’s one small hiccup: they need your help!

David Edwards, the coordinator for Wreaths Across America Beaufort, is reaching out to the community with an urgent plea. Every year, he tries to avoid discussing the numbers, but as the day approaches, he knows it’s necessary to share the facts. “Just write this,” he said. “Tell everybody I said, ‘We are very short on wreaths. There’s still time, though! We’ll take orders right up until they close the doors on the truck. I know times are tough.”
With the cost of a Remembrance Wreath at just $17, the task may sound daunting, but it’s worth it to honor our fallen heroes. In fact, Edwards points out that they need about 26,000 wreaths to adorn every headstone in the Beaufort National Cemetery. Right now, they’re around 60 percent of their goal, but those numbers have always shot up in the final weeks. It’s a race against time, and community members are encouraged to step forward to make a difference.
