Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and if you haven’t figured out your dinner plans yet, we’ve got you covered! This amazing Lowcountry community is all about coming together, especially when it comes to sharing a hearty meal on Thanksgiving Day. With a rich history of neighbors helping neighbors, you can count on Beaufort County to come through with some fantastic options!
Free Community Dinners: A Beaufort Tradition
Let’s start with the heartwarming community events that are a Thanksgiving staple around here. These free, family-style dinners are made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of hundreds of volunteers. This year is no exception! Here’s what you can look forward to:
- The Parish Church of St. Helena is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Sponsored by St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church, this fabulous event has been running since 1999, serving over 1,600 guests with the help of more than 400 volunteers.
- Hemingway’s Bistro starts their annual “Orphans and Strays Thanksgiving” potluck at 2 p.m. Join the fun as they partner with Panini’s on the Waterfront. The restaurants will whip up the main dishes, but they’re inviting attendees to “bring a dish” if they can!
- Marshview Community Organic Farm will have a delightful *home-cooked meal* from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect turkey, dressing, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and dirty rice. Donations are appreciated but not required. This is a cozy spot on 10 De Gullah Way on St. Helena Island!
