Beaufort County Invites Community to Discuss Exciting Streetscape Improvements

Hey, Beaufort County! Are you ready for some exciting changes coming your way? If you live or hang out around Lady’s Island, you won’t want to miss an upcoming public meeting aimed at unveiling plans for new streetscape projects designed to enhance the area’s appeal and convenience.

Mark Your Calendars!

The meeting is happening on Thursday, January 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. You’ll find it at the Lady’s Island Middle School Gymnasium, conveniently located at 30 Cougar Drive. Here’s the great part: it’s an informal, drop-in style meeting! You can swing by any time that works for you within the two-hour window.

What’s on the Agenda?

At this community gathering, Beaufort County will unveil designs for the Hazel Farm Road/Gay Drive (S-497) and Sunset Boulevard (S-186)/Miller Drive West (S-187) streetscape projects. These improvements are part of the wider Lady’s Island Corridor Traffic Improvements initiative that got the green light through the 2018 One Cent Sales Tax Referendum. It’s a big step toward making our streets more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly!

Curious about the changes? You’ll get the chance to peruse displays that showcase the proposed designs. These are sure to spark your interest and perhaps even make you feel like a part of this transformative process!

Meet the Experts

Representatives from the Beaufort County Engineering team, along with professionals from J. Bragg Consulting and Davis & Floyd, will be present at the meeting, ready to chat with you about these proposed improvements. They’ll answer any questions you might have and will be eager to hear your thoughts and feedback. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to share input on what these changes could look like!

No Formalities Here!

One of the best aspects of this meeting is its informal setting. Instead of sitting through a long presentation, you can come in, check out the designs, and ask questions at your leisure. Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast, a concerned resident, or simply someone who enjoys a leisurely stroll, your presence will make a difference in shaping the future of our roads.

Can’t Make It? No Worries!

For those who cannot attend the meeting in person, there is still a way to get involved! Information and design exhibits will be available digitally on a virtual meeting webpage until February 14. You can find all the details and submit your comments online at www.beaufortcountypenny.com/meetings. This ensures that everyone has a chance to contribute, regardless of prior commitments.

Need Help?

If you have questions or need assistance—especially for those with language barriers—don’t hesitate to reach out to the Engineering Department at 843-255-2700. They’re here to help you navigate this exciting opportunity for community input.

Join the Conversation!

This public meeting is not just about road improvements; it’s about _coming together as a community_ to envision the future of Lady’s Island. So, whether you’re a biker, walker, or just someone who loves a good neighborhood chat, come on out on January 30 and be a part of this exciting discussion!
