Steve DeSimone Announces Candidacy for Hilton Head Island Town Council Representing Ward 3

Steve DeSimone, with deep roots in the Hilton Head Island community, is stoked to announce his latest run for the Hilton Head Island Town Council in Ward 3. His energy and experience make him just the right guy for the job.

Not a New Face

DeSimone is not new to the island’s town council. He handled stuff for Ward 4 from 1996 to 2002 when Mayor Tom Peeples was in office. During this time, DeSimone spearheaded some pretty significant projects. He pushed for paved roads throughout both north and south Forest Beach, major drainage works across the island, and a program to revitalise the town’s beachfront. He also actively pursued the completion of the Cross Island Parkway and several land acquisition programs. These projects mirrored his commitment to the overall wellbeing of residents while also maintaining the island’s growth and looking out for the environment too.

Super Committed

“I’ll work my socks off for our island” says DeSimone, “I’m all about the long game, focusing on the needs of us who live here and also creating a community which is future-proof.”

Ready to Roll

DeSimone graduated from the University of Kentucky with a civil engineering degree and moved to Hilton Head Island in 1986 for a government job. These days, he owns a construction company specialising in land and marine projects, along with a business that builds a unique device he invented, the “Elongator Tailgate,” which makes loading stuff onto small trucks easy peasy. He and his wife Tracy brought up their three daughters on Hilton Head Island. He’s a member of the Town’s Board of Zoning Appeals, attends Holy Family Catholic Church, and even coached volleyball at Hilton Head Christian Academy for a decade.

If Elected

If the vote goes in his favor, “I promise to put in the work with the council and the town manager to diligently protect our gorgeous natural environment while also fostering a balanced, sustainable economy that meets the needs of locals,” says DeSimone.

The new boundaries for Ward 3 now include North and South Forest Beach, the gated communities of Shipyard, Wexford, Long Cove, and Spanish Wells, as well as other nearby neighborhoods including Yacht Cove.

Priorities

  • Community Resilience: Promoting sustainable redevelopment of tired areas focused on environmental stewardship and transforming them into lively spaces.
  • Beach Protection: Making sure Hilton Head Island’s celebrated beaches stay clean, safe, and totally rockin’.
  • Infrastructure Improvement: Improving commercial areas and roads for both tourists and locals.
  • Economic Support: Helping to make our community a great place to do business and live.
  • Transparent Governance: Keeping it all above board. I’ll ensure that the community always knows what’s going on and has a say in decisions.
