Man nabbed for fatal shooting of a woman in a home incident at Shell Point

A guy in his late thirties is cooling his heels in the slammer for allegedly blowing away a woman at a home in Shell Point.

Dark turn of events

Last Thursday, August 1, 2024, the peaceful neighbourhood of Shell Point was shaken by the news of a domestic incident that took a deadly turn. A 46-year-old woman, named Stephanie Fries, became the unfortunate target of a bullet.

Lamentably, what should have been another Thursday morning for Fries ended tragically, as she was located lifeless from a gunshot in her home on Shell Point Road.

Swift law enforcement action

The local big guns – namely Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) – heeded to a call just around the crack of dawn that day. Upon reaching the reported site of the incident the BCSO nailed Brenden Elsila, who was found on the scene, as the prime suspect.

Elsila, aged 37, and a resident of the same area, was arrested and packed off on warrants for Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.

More info, more clarity

Post this incident, the local crime fighters have urged anyone having information regarding the case or any other dubious or criminal flings happening around the Beaufort County to give them a bell at the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch line 843-524-2777.

A poignant tribute

In front of Stephanie Fries’ home in Shell Point, where her life was reprehensively cut short, people have come together to remember her and grieve her shocking demise. On August 2, 2024, a heartfelt memorial was set up to honour her, underscoring the sadness and the despair that has overcome the community after this incident.

Onward process in the case

As a result of the entire kerfuffle, Elsila was slapped into cuffs and escorted without a hitch to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he is currently holed-up, still languishing in his cell as of Tuesday, August 6.
