Savannah, Ga. Hosts Memorable Walk to End Alzheimer’s
This past Saturday was a special day for many residents of Bluffton, as over 350 people gathered for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The atmosphere was filled with energy and purpose as participants came together to support a cause that touches the lives of so many families. Our very own Tyler Manion served as the emcee for the day, bringing a sense of warmth and community spirit that resonated throughout the event.
A Day of Hope and Community
As the crowd gathered, Tyler began by highlighting the significance of the event: “Doesn’t it feel pretty good to know that every single dollar that we raised together is making an impact? I’m not exaggerating when we say every single dollar is advancing the care, support, research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.” This powerful message set the tone for the day, reminding everyone present that they were not just walking; they were stepping towards change.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is known as the world’s largest event focused on raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. As participants began their walk, they carried with them a vivid representation of their connection to the disease: the Promise Garden flowers. Each flower was a different color, symbolizing the personal stories and experiences of those affected by Alzheimer’s. From caregivers to those diagnosed, every participant bore a flower that told a unique story.
A Heartfelt Result
As of now, the event has raised over $87,000, with fundraising efforts continuing until December 31. The ultimate goal for this year is to reach $110,000. This money is vital in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission, ensuring that essential care and research can continue for those who rely on it. The enthusiasm of the walkers and the high spirits were a testament to the collective desire to make a difference.
