This shows a commendable awareness of how much this refuge means to the community.

Why Do We Need This Change?

In fact, there was a recent wildfire that burned across 200 acres at Georgia’s Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge. Furthermore, the project aims to tackle invasive species that have taken root over the years. One prominently mentioned culprit is the Chinese tallow tree, which can wreak havoc on local flora. With efforts supported by funds from the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the project plans to also introduce fire-adaptive vegetation and increase ground coverage with warm-season grasses.
