Beaufort, S.C. – In a heartfelt announcement, the family of Marylee (Petrucci) Holihan has shared the sad news of her passing on October 1, 2024, at the age of 77. Marylee, a cherished member of the Waterbury community, was born on April 11, 1947, in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Marylee was the eldest of five children born to Lena (Padula) and Michael Petrucci. Her education began at Barnard Grammar School and continued at Wilby High School, where she graduated in the class of 1965. It was during her formative years in Waterbury that she met her husband, Richard Holihan.
Marylee married Richard, who served as an officer in the Marine Corps, and for the following 31 years, she embraced the role of a military spouse. She lived a life filled with dedication, adapting to numerous assignments across the globe with remarkable grace and integrity. Her ability to create warm and welcoming homes was a testament to her character, allowing her family to thrive within the unique challenges posed by military service.
As a devoted mother, she raised her two children, Kimberly and Michael, and took immense joy in her role as a grandmother, affectionately known as Nana, to Madison, Sophia, Lia, and Jackson. Her deep love for her family was evident in everything she did, enriching their lives with her warmth and compassion.
Marylee was known for her infectious love of music and singing, a passion that brought happiness to all who had the privilege of hearing her voice. Her quick wit and playful expressions often accompanied her interactions, spreading joy and laughter among family and friends.
Marylee is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Kimberly, and granddaughter Lia, as well as her son Michael (married to Natalie), and grandchildren Madison, Sophia, and Jackson. She is also remembered by her siblings: Phyllis Ruman (Erich), Angela Baker (Larry), Michael Petrucci (Cindy), and Richard Petrucci (Melanie), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
To honor Marylee’s legacy, her family invites all to attend a celebration of life on December 8, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the VFW Post 7330 hall, located at 85 Davis St., Oakville, Connecticut. This gathering will be a time to reflect on her life, her love, and the indelible mark she left on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Marylee Holihan will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love and kindness she shared throughout her life. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift her family and friends.
