Beaufort Community Teams Up to Support Local Veterans

Hope and Help on the Horizon

Get ready everybody, because Beaufort County Veterans Affairs has joined forces with the Connecting Point to bring you the Spirit of Hope Stand Down – a free community event. This is not just any event; it’s one that’s pointed straight at offering immediate services for our homeless and at-risk veterans. So mark your calendars for Friday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and head over to the AMVETS Post 70 at 1831 Ribaut Road in Port Royal.

The Goodies Up for Grabs

Our veterans are the pillars of our freedom and it’s time we aid them in any way we can. Attendees will be able to fill their tummies with good food, grab a change of clothes, and undergo health screenings. But that’s not it. We’re looking at the complete picture here. So, we’ve got some major referrals lined up for healthcare, mental health, haircuts, new job opportunities, housing solutions, showers and useful substance use treatment.

Come One, Come All

We’ve got your ride covered too. Be at the pick-up locations at 8 a.m. – and these include Walmart on Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort, Parker’s Gas Station on Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island, Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort, and Lowe’s on Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort. If you’re looking for more info or have a question, don’t hesitate to call Lovel Henderson at 216-355-8331.

A First in Beaufort County

Oh, did we mention this will be Beaufort County’s first Stand Down event? That’s right, and that’s what makes this so special. So, let’s rally together to do more for those who did all they could for us. We’re hoping to see you at the event, lending a hand or showing support, because every little bit counts.
