Hilton Head Wraps Up Summer with a Bang on Labor Day
The fun in the sun is playing second fiddle to the ringing of school bells as summer finally says farewell in Hilton Head. But not before going out with a bang. Crowds of people made the most of their long weekend, flocking to the beach for the Labor Day holiday.
Despite a smidgen of rain on Monday, beach lovers decided it wouldn’t steal their thunder. From seasoned visitors to first timers, everyone unanimously agreed the Labor Day bash was a blast. In fact, there were those who braved the stormy skies and washed away any hesitation to enjoy a beach day on the holiday.
Labor Day Holiday: Unpredictable Weather but Unwavering Spirit
An instance was Georgia Southern student, Ethan Fernandez, who stated, “The storm clouds were out and we had a choice to make. Either stay in and sadly squander this beautiful Labor Day doing nothing or brave the weather and hit the beach. We chose the latter. And guess what, it turned out to be totally awesome!”
However, the beach was more than just a sea of floating umbrellas and sun kissed skin. One Ohio resident, Laura Snyder, caught a 4-foot shark on camera. Fortunately, the unexpected guest did not harm any beach-goers and was released away from the crowd.
A Boon for Local Businesses
The holiday crowd was great news for local businesses. Thousands of people basking on the beach brought in a wave of revenue for small businesses in the area. While this marks the ending of the tourist season, local residents will continue to keep businesses thriving all year round with their patronage.
One cheerful local restaurant owner, known as Jimmy, said, “Yes, traditionally we see a surge during the holiday season, but the beauty of this place is hard to resist. So, we always tend to have a good turnout all year round”.
So even though the long weekend led by Labor Day has wound down, businesses on the island are still buzzing with life. So, to those who are feeling a bit blue about the summer ending, fret not– Hilton Head still promises plenty of sun and fun in every season!
Saying Goodbye to Summer, But Not the Fun!
Hilton Head’s Labor Day celebration was a fantastic way to bid adieu to summer. From young students to seasoned beachgoers, the fun continues even as the busy season ends. And judging by the steady stream of locals still pouring into local businesses, it looks like Hilton Head is ready to welcome other seasons with the same warm, festive spirit. Until next summer!
