In an exciting turn of events for the town of Hilton Head Island, a familiar face has stepped up to lead the charge in engineering and public projects. Jeffrey Netzinger, a well-respected figure in the local engineering scene, has been promoted to the position of Engineering & Projects Director. His journey with the Town began in January 2017, and since then, he has made quite a mark, especially in stormwater management!
Jeff started his tenure as the Stormwater Manager and quickly made a name for himself. Under his stewardship, the Stormwater Division evolved into a remarkably responsive and effective team, effectively addressing community concerns. His innovative spirit really shined through when he developed a stormwater risk assessment tool. This handy tool not only helps prioritize service requests but also aids in thoughtful budget planning. Talk about a win-win for the community!
In the face of recent hurricane threats, Jeff and his dedicated team showcased their commitment by monitoring water levels and implementing strategies to prevent flooding on the island. “Jeff’s extensive experience in transportation facility design, stormwater infrastructure, and traffic studies, combined with his deep knowledge of our Island’s infrastructure, make him the ideal choice to lead the Engineering & Projects Department,” said Assistant Town Manager Shawn Leininger. It’s clear that Jeff’s expertise is a huge asset to Hilton Head Island.
But there’s more to Jeff than just his professional chops. He’s known for building strong relationships with colleagues, vendors, and community members alike. His collaborative approach has garnered him respect throughout the town, thanks to his focus on getting things done well. As he takes on this new role, one can only imagine the continued positive impact he’ll have!
Interestingly, Jeff’s academic background is quite unique – he holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Georgia State University, alongside a civil engineering degree from the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology. It’s a blend that sets him apart, bringing both historical insight and technical know-how to the table.
Before anchoring down with Hilton Head Island, Jeff honed his skills at Hussey Gay Bell in Savannah, Georgia, where he worked as a Project Manager and Director of Transportation for over 17 years. His earlier roles in various engineering firms also added depth to his expertise, making him a seasoned professional ready to tackle the multifaceted challenges ahead.
With Jeff now at the helm of the Public Projects, Stormwater, and Transportation Divisions, residents can look forward to innovative advancements and a proactive approach to community needs. His commitment to improvement and innovative solutions promises that Hilton Head Island is in capable hands.
As the town moves forward, all eyes will certainly be on Jeff and his team as they tackle the road (and water!) ahead. Here’s to new beginnings and the exciting times ahead for Hilton Head Island under the guidance of Engineer Jeffrey Netzinger!
