Hilton Head Island is gearing up for a sizzling event that promises to be a feast for both the taste buds and the heart! The 39th annual Hilton Head Island Kiwanis Chili Cook Off & Jeep Island is happening this Saturday, and you won’t want to miss it.
What’s Cooking?
From noon to 3 p.m., local chefs and amateur cooks will gather at Lowcountry Celebration Park to showcase their best chili recipes. This lively event isn’t just about competing; it’s a chance for the community to come together, support local causes, and have a ton of fun!
If you’ve got a favorite chili recipe or just love indulging in delicious dishes, you’ll want to bring your family out for this event. Attendees will get to sample a variety of chilis and ultimately help decide who takes home the coveted titles.
Good Eats for a Good Cause
One of the heartwarming aspects of this cook-off is its impact on local organizations. Proceeds from the event go towards vital programs like the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island. Ryan Wise from the Boys & Girls Club shared how important this event is for them: “You know, we bring the kids to the event because they come here to the club and they cook the chili themselves. So, of course, we have to get them to see the fruits of their labor.”
It’s incredible to see the kids understand the connection between their hard work and the support they get from the community. The Boys & Girls Club has a reputation for crafting some winning chili over the years, all thanks to some secret family recipes that are bound to impress!
Judging and Voting
The excitement doesn’t stop with just tasting the delicious chilis. There will be 10 to 12 judges weighing in on both amateur and professional cooking groups. But here’s the fun twist: the attendees, including you, get to vote too! This year, a new QR code system will make it easy for everyone to cast their votes for their favorite chili. Jeep Island—More Than Just Chili
In addition to a delectable array of chilis, the day will feature Jeep Island—a stunning expo of Jeeps from all around the East Coast. If you’re a Jeep enthusiast, you’ll love the competition and displays. Plus, there will be the chance to win a Jeep in a raffle!
