Hilton Head Island Celebrates Vibrant Artwork This Fall
As the leaves turn and cooler breezes sweep in, Hilton Head Island is gearing up for a splash of color! Renowned oil and pastel plein air impressionist Carol Iglesias will be showcasing her latest stunning collection, Colors of the Lowcountry & Beyond, at the Art League of Hilton Head. This exciting exhibition opens on October 22 and will be available for viewing until November 22, 2024. If you’re an art lover or just someone who appreciates beautiful scenery, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
A Passion for Painting
Carol Iglesias, who is a founding member of the Hilton Head Island Plein Air Painters, has a reputation for creating artwork that is not just visually appealing but also emotionally resonant. Her use of vibrant colors and dynamic compositions has garnered her numerous accolades from respected art organizations. She has captured the attention of many by winning awards from institutions such as the Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA), Art League of Hilton Head, the Maryland Pastel Society, and even the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. Even more impressive is her international recognition; Iglesias participated in an artist residency in Dinan, France, where her work earned a notable place in exhibitions.
From Inspiration to Creation
Iglesias is known for her incredible knack for capturing the essence of a location. “Working outside allows me to study all the constantly changing subtleties of colors, shadows, and light,” she describes. With her energetic style, she aims to quickly relay the captivating interplay of light and color she experiences in the moments she paints. The Colors of the Lowcountry & Beyond exhibition features a rich tapestry of scenes influenced by the natural beauty of the Lowcountry as well as locations beyond it. Each brushstroke evokes a sense of place that transports the viewer to where each piece was created.
Event Details
The exhibition will be hosted at the Art League Gallery inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, located at 14 Shelter Cove Lane, Hilton Head Island. The gallery will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and for 90 minutes prior to every performance at the Arts Center. Best of all, admission is free!

On the evening of Wednesday, October 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., everyone is invited to a delightful opening reception. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Carol Iglesias in person, ask questions, and enjoy some refreshments as you soak in the beautiful artwork on display.
For those eager to dive deeper into the artistic process, on Friday, November 1, at 12 p.m., there will be a Gallery Talk where Iglesias will share insights into her inspirations, techniques, and the journey behind her vibrant paintings. This too is free and open to the public!
Painting Workshop
If you’ve ever wanted to learn from a master, now’s your chance! Carol Iglesias will conduct a workshop titled “Capturing Reflections in Plein Air” on October 30 and 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner, it promises to be an enlightening experience.
