Exciting Times Await at the Fort Fremont Harvest Festival!

This fall, the charming community of St. Helena Island, SC, is all set to transport you back in time with its 2nd Annual Fort Fremont Harvest Festival! Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 3rd, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and get ready for an unforgettable experience at the beautiful Fort Fremont Preserve, located at 1124 Land’s End Road.

Step Back into 1910

At the Harvest Festival, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the magic of the Edwardian era, with activities designed for both kids and adults. Imagine playing period games that bring history to life, all while enjoying delightful music and scrumptious food options from an array of local vendors. And don’t forget to check out the fantastic crafts that will be available for purchase; you might just find a unique treasure to take home!

What to Expect

This year, the festival promises to be bigger and better than last year. There will be even more food vendors, showcasing delicious local specialties that you won’t want to miss. You can also look forward to enriching history displays presented by local non-profits, including a captivating demonstration on the Carolina rice culture. To make it even easier for everyone to join in the fun, there will be a free shuttle service running from Land’s End Woodlands Road, just a quick mile from the Preserve. No worries about parking, just hop on and enjoy the ride!

While you’re there, take a moment to stroll through the breathtaking Fort Fremont Preserve. This lovely spot, set amid a mixed hardwood forest, features walking trails, picnic areas, and fascinating remains of historic batteries. Don’t miss the History Center where you can view a diorama and period artifacts that tell the story of Fort Fremont’s rich past.

Preserving History for Future Generations

The Friends of Fort Fremont work tirelessly alongside Beaufort County to preserve and promote the educational and historical resources of Fort Fremont. They’re dedicated to helping visitors understand the significance of this historic site, where the fort was initially constructed in 1898 during the Spanish-American War for coastal defense.

The Preserve is open to the public free of charge every day from dawn to dusk, with the History Center open Fridays through Sundays. Thanks to the committed volunteers of the Friends of Fort Fremont, there’s so much for visitors to learn and discover.
