Bluffton Citizens Requested to Complete Flooding Survey Post-Tropical Storm Debby

Bluffton Citizens Requested to Complete Flooding Survey Post-Tropical Storm Debby

Alright folks, the town we all love and call home, Bluffton, needs our help! They’re hoping to gain a little insight into what went down during and after Tropical Storm Debby. So, they’re kindly asking all who dwell within the town limits to fill out a flooding survey. It’s all to help us prepare better for future storms.

Why the Survey?

The town officials aren’t just being nosy, they’re trying to get the scoop on the flooding effects caused by Debby and any other weather events that have hit us recently. They aim to gather residents’ experiences and assess the damage done. But why, you ask?

Well, they plan to use this information to beef up their flood prevention efforts, tweak policies and figure out if there are any improvements needed for the town’s stormwater infrastructure. We’re talking drains, culverts, retention ponds – the works! This will also help in reporting to FEMA and getting the word out to the community about flooding and how to deal with it.

Completing the Survey

You can fill this survey out either old school by picking up a hard copy or go with the times and do it online at https://arcg.is/10a5Sn. If you’re going old school, you can drop it off or mail to Bluffton Town Hall, 20 Bridge Street, Bluffton, South Carolina, 29910. Remember though, you’ve got until October 31st to complete and send it in. Don’t delay, let them know what you think today!

Have Your Say In Person

For those of us who prefer a more human touch, the town is hosting a couple of public meetings. These are a perfect chance for us to chat with town staff and researchers about our experience with the flooding, up close and personal.

First Public Meeting

The first meet-up is happening on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., over at Pritchardville Elementary School, 9447 Evans Way, Bluffton, SC 29910. A perfect chance to share your story in person.

Second Public Meeting

Not to worry if you miss the first meeting, there’s another one coming up in October. On Saturday, Oct. 19, you can catch the town personnel at their booth at the Arts and Seafood Festival, Town Booth at Street Fest (May River Road) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Share your tale, stroll around the fest, and perhaps grab a delicious seafood bite!

Let’s Do Our Part

So there you have it, folks. It’s time for us to step in and do our bit to keep our beloved Bluffton prepared for anything Mother Nature throws our way. Let’s ensure our voices and experiences are heard and used for something positive. Ready to help shape the future? Then pick up that pen or get those fingers typing. Let’s do this, Bluffton!
