Exciting Election Day Approaches in Beaufort County with Record Early Voting and Important Reminders for Voters

Exciting Election Time in Beaufort County!

Hey there, Beaufort County! Election Day is just around the corner, and it’s shaping up to be an electrifying time for all you voters out there. On Tuesday, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so make sure you know when to cast your vote. If you’re in line at 7 p.m., don’t worry! You’ll still be allowed to vote. Pretty great, right?

Got Your Sample Ballot Ready?

If you want to get a head start and see the ballot you’ll be using, the South Carolina Elections Commission has made it super easy. They recommend that you check out a sample ballot before Election Day. Why? Because being prepared helps you spend less time in the voting booth!

Checking a sample ballot is as easy as pie. Just head to MyscVOTES, enter your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number, and voilà! You’ll have a sneak peek at what you’ll be voting on. Don’t forget to tick that box to prove you’re not a robot!

If you need a bit of help with that, you can always reach out to your County Voter Registration Office for assistance. They’re just a click away at scvotes.gov/contact/county-voter-registration-election-offices.

Don’t Forget Your Photo ID!

photo ID in hand. Acceptable forms include a South Carolina Driver’s License, SC DMV ID Card, SC Voter Registration Card with Photo, Federal Military ID, or a US Passport. You can snag your photo ID at the DMV or your county election office.

Worried about not having an ID? No worries! You can vote a provisional ballot after signing an affidavit confirming that you have a good reason for not having a photo ID. It’s all about making sure everyone gets a chance to be heard!

Record-Breaking Early Voting!

Here’s some exciting news: nearly 60,000 voters in Beaufort County took advantage of the new early voting process! Marie Smalls, who leads the Beaufort County Board of Voter Registration and Elections, couldn’t be more thrilled. As of last Friday afternoon, 56,855 people, which is about 40% of the county’s registered voters, had already cast their ballots!

Early voting has gained lots of popularity, and for good reason! It’s quick, convenient, and allows folks to skip long lines on Election Day. Just imagine a more relaxed voting experience—who wouldn’t want that?

This year marks the first time early voting is being tested on such a large scale during a presidential election. With contentious races and hotly debated issues on the ballot, it’s no wonder so many residents are eager to participate.

But Wait, Don’t Snap That Ballot Selfie!

Nether the excitement of voting nor that fancy new smartphone of yours can tempt you into taking a photo of your ballot in the voting booth. You might think, “What harm could it do?” but hold your horses! Taking a “ballot selfie” is actually illegal in South Carolina. You could face fines or even jail time! So, remember—stay law-abiding while enjoying your civic duties!

What’s on Your Ballot?

As you prepare to hit the polls, keep in mind that there are much more than just presidential candidates on your ballot. From local races to important referendum questions like the $950 million transportation referendum, there’s plenty at stake that needs your attention and vote!

So, Beaufort County, are you ready? Put your voting shoes on, grab that ID, and let’s make our voices heard! This is the time to embrace democracy, and every vote counts!
