Good news for the eco-conscious in Beaufort County
Get ready for a free electronics recycling event
We’ve got some refreshing news for all the green thumbs out there in Beaufort County. You already know how important it is to recycle paper, plastic and glass, right? Yet, did you know that electronics can be recycled too? Well, it’s happening, folks. The local Department of Solid Waste and Recycling is gearing up to host free electronics recycling events. And of course, it’s for our community residents. Mark your calendars for this Saturday, August 24.
When and where exactly?
The big event takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at two different locations. If you’re close to the Bluffton area, then it’s none other than River Ridge Academy off Raider Drive. Likewise, Beaufort folks can head over to the Beaufort County Public Works on Shanklin Road.
What can you recycle?
You can drop off a bunch of electronic goods. Bring in your unused personal computers, laptops, CRT and LCD monitors, CRT and even non-CRT televisions. Don’t stop there, pack in those printers, hard drives and random electronics like cell phones, tablets, and fax machines.
What not to bring?
However, not all electronic items are up for recycling at this event. Leave out stuff like microwaves, vacuum cleaners, and all kinds of audio equipment- speakers, tuners, music system and the like. And oh, DVD players and lamps too won’t get recycling love at this event.
How does it work?
Super simple! You just stay put in your cars while the event staff handles unloading. Easy peasy, don’t you think?
