District Reveals Four New School Principals for Upcoming School Year

Beaufort County school district disclosed that schools will kick off the new academic year on August 7 with four fresh head honchos. Chosen from a pool of veteran administrative educators, these leaders are expected to foster a school culture that prioritizes students’ academic success and encourages learning growth.

Jamie Allen, Broad River Elementary School

Jamie Allen, whos has an impressive 18-year career under her belt in the Beaufort County School District, will take on the head role at the Broad River Elementary School. The position was previously held by Constance Goodwine-Lewis

Allen, a former United States Army personnel, is well-accustomed to the school’s culture, having started her educational journey there in 2006. Apart from being a third-grade teacher, she has also played the roles of a literacy interventionist, TAP mentor/master teacher, and assistant principal hasta 2021.

Brantley Wilson, Whale Branch Middle School

Former principal Jamie Allen’s mantle at Whale Branch Middle School will be taken over by Brantley Wilson. His journey in education began at the Beaufort Jasper Academy for Career Excellence in Ridgeland in 2006. He wears many professional hats, including Student Services Assistant, Mentor/Counselor for At-Risk Youth, Business/STEM Instructor, and CATE Compliance Coordinator, to name a few.

Apart from his professional responsibilities, Brantley also did his bit for the society by serving as a volunteer rescue diver/swimmer for Beaufort Water Search and Rescue and a reserve firefighter.

Sonji Leach, Whale Branch Early College High School

Weaving the future of students at Whale Branch Early College High School will be Sonji Leach, who comes with a commendable record of being an assistant principal at Beaufort High School. She has a rich administrative experience, serving in principal roles in Georgia at Swainsboro High School and Southwest Middle School. Leach also brings in her experience as an Executive Administrator at Allen University and Coordinator of Administrative Services for Richland County School District.

She has plans to inspire a culture of continuous improvement and student success in her new role.

Keith Stewart, Bluffton Middle School

Taking the reins from the former principal Matt Hall will be Keith Stewart at Bluffton Middle School. He has a sound understanding of the school, having previously served as its assistant principal. His professional career kickstarted as a physical education teacher at Manning High School in the Clarendon School District, and he later held roles in Beaufort County, fostering a rich connection with the area’s educational scene.

These changes, following rigorous rounds of interviews, are sure to bring about a refreshing transformation in the way education is fostered in the district. And with a collective emphasis on academic achievement and developing a positive school environment, the district is looking forward to another successful year of learning.
