Hey there, Beaufort County residents! If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes at your local Sheriff’s Office, then you’re in for a treat. The Spring 2025 Citizens Police Academy is now open for registration, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for adults looking to get a first-hand look at law enforcement in action.
The Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a free, nine-week program that runs for one night each week. Perfect, right? You’ll be diving into a variety of exciting and informative topics that cover everything from Patrol Operations to the 911 Dispatch Center. The Academy also offers thrilling insights into Criminal Investigations, Cold Cases, and even a peek into the Forensic Laboratory!
Throughout the program, you’ll encounter a lineup of fascinating presentations that focus on safety and crime prevention. Ever wanted to get a clearer perspective on how dispatchers handle emergency calls? Or perhaps you’re curious about how the Sheriff’s Office investigates significant crimes? This is your chance! And don’t forget the Saturday session, which will feature jaw-dropping demonstrations from the Special Operations Teams, including the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, K9 Units, and the Bloodhound Tracking Team.
As the cherry on top, participants will have a chance to experience a ride-along with a patrol deputy at the end of the program. Imagine sitting shotgun and seeing what it’s like to patrol the streets of Beaufort County. You won’t want to miss this opportunity for an insider look at what our law enforcement officers do every day!
No need to worry about long drives; the Academy is conveniently offered in both northern and southern Beaufort County. The first class for those registered in the Southern Beaufort County CPA will kick off in February 2025 at 6 p.m. in Bluffton. Meanwhile, if you’re securing a spot in the Northern Beaufort County CPA, you’ll be reporting to Beaufort for your first class, also starting in February 2025 at 6 p.m.
