Bluffton Gears Up for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Mark Your Calendars for April 27, 2025

If you’re living in Bluffton, mark Saturday, April 27, 2025, on your calendar! It’s time to turn in those unused prescription meds that have been sitting in your cabinet for too long. The friendly folks at the Nexus Care of Beaufort County, together with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, are stepping up to host the incredible DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This is a key event for taking care of our community and promoting safe medication practices!

Where and When?

On that bright Saturday morning, swing by either of the two convenient drop-off locations between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The locations are:

  • Beaufort County Bluffton Government Center
  • 4819 Bluffton Parkway
  • Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center
  • 2001 Duke Street

You won’t want to miss this chance to safely dispose of those unwanted prescription medications. Remember, it’s just for pills, though! Liquids, sharps, and needles will need to be kept at home, as they can’t be accepted during this event.

Extra Options for Disposal

But wait! If you can’t make it to the event, don’t fret. There are local drop-off sites scattered around Beaufort County that you can use any time you need. The goal is to make sure everyone has access to safe and convenient medication disposal options. Plus, attendees at the event will also have proper at-home disposal solutions available, providing even more ways to keep your home safe and clutter-free.

Why This Event Matters

This initiative is more than just a simple drop-off service. The DEA National Rx Take Back program aims to tackle the growing issue of medication misuse and abuse. These efforts are essential for keeping our community healthy and preventing potential substance abuse issues related to unwanted drugs sitting around in homes. Just think about it: during the last event held in April 2024, over a staggering 670,136 lbs. of prescription drugs were collected from nearly 5,000 collection sites across the nation! By participating in this event, you’ve got the opportunity to be part of something much bigger.

Anonymous and Easy

One of the best aspects of this program is that it allows for anonymous disposal of unneeded medications. You can drop off your unused pills without any questions asked, making it a straightforward process. It’s all about creating a safer environment for everyone in Bluffton, and it’s so easy to participate!

Need More Info?

For those who may have questions or need additional information, feel free to reach out to the Beaufort County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Department. They’re available at 843-255-6013. Whether it’s details about drop-off locations or how to safely dispose of medications at home, they’re there to help!

Get Involved!

So, gather up those old prescriptions and make plans to head over to either of the drop-off locations this April. Let’s work together to promote responsible medication disposal in our community! Remember, taking part in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day isn’t just about getting rid of old pills; it’s all about protecting our loved ones and ensuring Bluffton remains a safe and healthy place to live.

Join the cause and let’s make a difference—one pill at a time!
