A Wild Day in Bluffton Unfolds

In a twist of events that could straight out of a Hollywood script, the peaceful town of Bluffton found itself buzzing with activity on December 11. A critical incident that included a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle along with reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Wooden Wheel Lane and Oak Barrel Boulevard has left residents on edge.

Meet the Suspect: Jeffrey Ryan

An 18-year-old resident, Jeffrey Ryan, has been arrested and is facing some serious charges. According to Bluffton Police Department’s Community Relations Manager, Eydie Moody, he’s charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature in connection to the pedestrian incident. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill situation.

The Scene of Chaos

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim of a hit-and-run with minor injuries. Thankfully, medical staff on-site were able to address their injuries promptly. Talk about a fortunate break!

Investigations Unraveled

The police didn’t just wipe their hands clean after tending to the victim; they rolled up their sleeves and dove deep into an investigation that lasted several hours. Officers scoured through video footage and spoke to multiple witnesses to piece together what really happened that night. The findings were shocking—evidence confirmed that gunshots had actually been fired during the hit-and-run!

Shots Fired? Who Did It?

Here’s where it gets a bit murky. It’s unclear whether Ryan himself, or some mischievous juveniles had pulled the trigger. But fear not, as Moodly later confirmed that the incidents were indeed related. Talk about a tangled web!

Robbery Twist

As if this incident wasn’t enough, investigators also uncovered details about an attempted armed robbery that transpired before the pedestrian was struck. And guess what? Three male juveniles are apparently the culprits behind this robbery and have since been petitioned to Family Court. It’s a real rollercoaster of a story!

Wounding But Not Injuring

Though gunshots were fired, thankfully, it seems like nobody got hurt! Moody mentioned that the gunshots were aimed at an individual but no injuries resulted. The community can now take a sigh of relief knowing everyone is safe, but the question remains: what will the legal repercussions be for these youngsters?

What’s in Store for the Juveniles?

As per Moody, the juveniles involved are facing charges stemming from the robbery. However, she didn’t divulge what exact charges they will be up against. There’s a world of curiosity around this case since it blends juvenile mischief with serious criminal activity.

Safety First!

Authorities assure the public that no additional suspects are out there, and there’s no ongoing risk to the community’s safety. However, if you happen to have any information regarding this chaotic incident, you’re encouraged to reach out to Beaufort County Non-Emergency Dispatch at (843) 524-2777, asking to speak with a Bluffton police officer.
