Beaufort is gearing up for a heartfelt event to commemorate the sacrifices made on September 11, honoring all who served and lost their lives on that fateful day. The Patriot Day event is set to take place on Wednesday, September 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the scenic Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.
This annual ceremony promises to be both moving and reflective. Attendees can expect a brief program that will include an opening prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a special appearance by guest speaker Fred T. White, a retired commander from the United States Coast Guard. The evening will conclude with a benediction and the solemn sound of taps being played, creating a moment of silence for reflection.
Organized by the City of Beaufort in collaboration with the Exchange Club of Beaufort, this event is a great opportunity for community members to come together. It serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and remembrance, especially on such a significant day in American history.
If you can’t make it in person, don’t worry! The event will be broadcast live on Beaufort County TV (BCTV). You can catch it on various cable channels, including Hargray – channel 9 and 417, Comcast – channel 2, and Spectrum – channel 1304. For those who prefer to stream, BCTV will also be available online at www.BeaufortCounty.tv and through their free app, which can be downloaded on platforms like Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV.
Community engagement is vital, and this event is not only about remembrance but also about coming together as a community. Everyone is encouraged to attend, whether you’re a long-time Beaufort resident or a newcomer to the area. It’s an opportunity to connect with neighbors and show support for the families affected by the events of 9/11.
Additionally, updates from local parks indicate a push to increase rentals to enhance visitor experiences. With rates starting at $795 per person for a two-night stay, the parks agency aims to provide affordable and enjoyable retreats for families and friends. Strengthening community ties and enjoying the beauty of our surroundings is always a win-win!
As we look forward to what promises to be a meaningful day of remembrance, let’s all take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who came before us. It is a chance for us to honor their legacy and ensure that their memories remain alive in our hearts and communities.
We invite everyone to join us in this important commemoration, either at the park or from the comfort of home. Mark your calendars and be a part of this solemn tribute in Beaufort.
