Hey there, Beaufort! Get ready to mark your calendars because the much-anticipated Beaufort Oyster Festival is just around the corner! Running from January 9 to January 19, this fab event is all set to celebrate our glorious oystering culture that is so deeply rooted in the Lowcountry region.
This delightful festival is hosted by the Beaufort Area Hospitality Association and plays an important role in boosting the local tourism and economy. It’s not just about enjoying delicious food; it’s a chance to learn about the history, agriculture, and cuisine of Beaufort. Did you know that all the oysters served at the festival are farmed or harvested right here locally? Talk about keeping it fresh!
Whether you like them steamed, raw, roasted, or fried, there is certainly something for everyone’s palate at this festival. Join your fellow oyster lovers at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, located at 2227 Boundary Street, and dive into a world of flavor!
The festival kicks off with “Tides to Tables,” also known as Restaurant Week, starting on January 9. During this week-long celebration, local restaurants will be rolling out special menus featuring fabulous oyster dishes until the end of the festival on January 19. Fan favorites like Brody’s Bar and Grill, Old Bull Tavern, and Chef Frank’s Bistro are all in on the action, so be sure to check them out!
The heart of the festival beats strong on January 18. Get ready for a day filled with live music and scrumptious food. Best of all? Admission is completely free! The fun kicks off bright and early with the Oyster Boogie 5K that takes place at 8 a.m., so lace up your running shoes and get ready to groove and move! Make sure to sign up in advance if you want to join in on this energetic start.
As you enjoy mouthwatering oysters, you’ll also get to jam to performances from some fantastic musicians throughout the day. On January 18, we’ve got Boondockers from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then Southbound 17 taking the stage from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. As we wrap up the festivities on January 19, catch Campfire Tyler from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Stuck in Time Band taking over the stage from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Don’t miss out on the fun on January 19, where additional events include a cornhole tournament at 1 p.m. and ongoing live music until 4 p.m.
And for those curious minds out there, beyond just food and music, this year’s festival will feature 15 educational organizations where you can dive deeper into the world of oystering. There are even boat tours available, but note that those require separate tickets, so plan accordingly.
For anyone wanting to get involved, volunteers are more than welcome! Help out with event setup, registration, assisting attendees, and clean-up, and you’ll have a blast being part of this exciting community event.
