In the charming coastal city of Beaufort, South Carolina, we have a remarkable story to share about one of our very own heroes. Meet Obner Lindor, a dedicated member of the U.S. Navy who has devoted his life to serving the nation and his community. His journey began back in 2006 when he made the brave decision to join the military while living in vibrant Miami.
After completing boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, a place infamous for its cold winters, Obner didn’t waste any time diving into his training. He attended hospital corpsman school, where he learned the vital skills needed to care for sailors and Marines. His first assignment took him to NAS Pensacola, a sunny spot in Florida, before he received orders to deploy to Kuwait. Talk about a whirlwind start to a military career!
After his time in Kuwait, Obner’s next adventure was with the Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Here, he expanded his horizons and deployed to Afghanistan. These experiences not only shaped him as a corpsman but also provided him with insight into the sacrifices made by service members and their families.
Returning to the States was a meaningful transition for Obner. He knew he wanted to specialize further, so he focused on radiology. His talent took him to Quantico, Virginia, where he spent five years honing his skills and serving a vital role in the medical care of military personnel. Obner’s commitment didn’t end there—as he later transitioned to Newport, Rhode Island, where he supported the school populations at the Officer Candidate School and the Naval War College.
Obner’s journey eventually led him south to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, which included a stint in Mayport, Florida. Eventually, he found his way to Beaufort, where he currently works at the radiology clinic in the Naval Hospital. It’s there that his passion for caring for others shines through every day, providing top-notch medical support to the people in his community.
The American Legion Beaufort Post 207 has been an invaluable advocate for veterans, helping to highlight the incredible stories of service members like Obner. They invite community members to join in recognizing veterans who have made significant contributions.
