Residents of Beaufort, South Carolina, can breathe a little easier knowing that their heart health is in great hands! Beaufort Memorial Hospital has just welcomed a new cardiologist to their team, and he’s bringing a wealth of experience to the table. Dr. Francis O’Neill, a board-certified physician in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, has joined Beaufort Memorial Heart Specialists, aiming to expand and enhance cardiac care for everyone in the Lowcountry.
Before making his way down south, Dr. O’Neill was doing remarkable work as an interventional cardiologist in New York. He previously served as the Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Cardiac Critical Care at Nassau University Medical Center, where he honed his skills in performing interventional cardiology procedures. With over 1,000 coronary procedures under his belt, he really knows what he’s doing when it comes to keeping hearts healthy.
“Dr. O’Neill will be a fantastic addition to our team of skilled cardiologists at Beaufort Memorial Heart Specialists,” said Russell Baxley, President and CEO of Beaufort Memorial, in a recent announcement. “His experience in compassionate, patient-forward cardiac care will truly benefit patients here in the Lowcountry.”
Dr. O’Neill’s journey to Beaufort is as heartwarming as it is inspiring. Originally from upstate New York, where he grew up on a dairy farm, he and his wife, Rita, wanted their kids to experience life in a tight-knit community. They are thrilled to start this new chapter in the Lowcountry, where they can enjoy the kind of connections that come easily in smaller towns.
“I look at each of my patients as a whole person and treat them like I would treat my family,” Dr. O’Neill shared. This patient-centered philosophy shapes his approach to care, making visits feel less like “transactions” and more like a friendly conversation. Not only does he want to provide top-notch medical treatment, but he also aims to listen and connect with his patients on a deeper level.
Dr. O’Neill isn’t just about the numbers; his diverse experience means he can provide specialized care in multiple areas. From heart failure and hypertension to managing pacemakers, defibrillators, and arrhythmias, he’s ready to tackle it all. He is also trained in performing cardiac catheterization procedures in the newly renovated cath lab at Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s main campus, further enhancing patient care options.
So, if you’re in need of a cardiac check-up or have any heart concerns, look no further! Dr. O’Neill is seeing patients in both the Beaufort and Okatie offices, with convenient locations at 300 Midtown Drive in Beaufort and 122 Okatie Center Blvd. North, Suite 300 in Okatie.
To schedule your appointment with Dr. O’Neill or any of the other heart care specialists at Beaufort Memorial, simply give them a call at 843-770-4550. It’s always good to know that your heart health is in caring, competent hands!
This addition to the Beaufort Memorial Heart Specialists team not only strengthens local cardiac care, but it also reaffirms a commitment to improving the health and happiness of Lowcountry residents. Here’s to better heart health in our beloved community!
