Hey folks, have you heard the news? The Beaufort County Democratic Party (BCDP) has just opened a brand-new satellite office! This new spot is nestled right in the heart of the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce building on good ol’ Bladen Street in Beaufort. It’s all getting real because the general election of 2024 is almost here!
The new found enthusiasm is contagious, let me tell you! This year is incredibly special as Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee for president. Yep, you read that right! She could be the first Black/Asian-American woman in the history of the US to ever sit in the top seat. Now that’s what we call making history!
This year, the Beaufort County Democratic Party outdoes itself by standing a full slate of candidates for local offices including the S.C. House and S.C. Senate. The slate is also remarkable in its diversity – out of the total candidates, nine are women, with eight of them running for the first time!
“Kamala Harris has truly lit a spark and people are super excited,” said Kathleen Hughes, the chair of the BCDP. She added, “We also want locals to know that Democrats have some incredible candidates running for other important positions too. We’ve been flooded with folks wanting to volunteer and people ready for change.”
Opening a second office in North of the Broad is touted to be a major step in efficiently supporting the Democratic candidates while also keeping the flame of their organizing efforts alive on the ground.
Looking for the BCDP headquarters? It’s located at 39 Persimmon Street, Suite 201 in Bluffton. The all-new satellite office is open at 711 Bladen Street, Suite 310 in Beaufort. If you need more information, just head over to their website www.beaufortcountydems.org.
There’s a whole lot happening around Beaufort. The local authorities are back at work and there’s also news about Josh Scallate, the city councilman, prepping to run for the position of Beaufort mayor. And guess what? The National Weather Service just confirmed a tornado on Lady’s Island. Whoa! Stay tuned for more updates.
