Beaufort County Weather Update: A Cyclone on the Horizon!

Hey there, Beaufort County! If you’ve been keeping an eye on the weather, you might want to grab your umbrella and put on those rain boots because we have some exciting developments brewing in the Caribbean. A Cyclone, set to become Tropical Storm Rafael, is making its way northwest towards Cuba. While this storm sounds serious, the good news is that it poses no direct threats to our lovely East Coast and especially not to Beaufort County.

What’s Happening with the Storm?

As of now, this storm is being monitored closely by the National Hurricane Center. They predict that it will strengthen and make landfall between Louisiana and the western part of Florida’s panhandle by early Saturday. But before that, it’s likely to drench our area with heavy rainfall due to all that moisture being pushed over Florida and the Southeast U.S. Buckle up for some wet weather, because starting midweek, heavy rainfall is expected to hit.

When Will the Rain Start?

Forecasters are saying that Beaufort might see showers starting on Wednesday and continuing into Thursday. It looks like the skies will be a bit gloomy, but fear not—forecasts indicate that they should clear up just in time for the weekend! Yes, you read that right, folks. So if you have plans to enjoy the outdoors, Saturday and Sunday should be fine.

Your Weather Forecast: What to Expect

Here’s a breakdown of the weather for the coming days:

  • Tuesday: Expect a 30% chance of showers, mainly before 1 PM. But don’t worry, it will be mostly sunny with highs around 80°F. Winds will be light from the east at 7 to 10 mph.
  • Wednesday: Rain chances increase to 30% after 1 PM. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 81°F. Winds will be a gentle east at 6 to 9 mph.
  • Thursday: Showers are likely, especially after 1 PM. The day will be pretty cloudy, with a high near 77°F. The chance of rain is ramping up to 60%!
  • Friday: There’s a slight chance of showers at 20%. But overall, it will be partly sunny, and temps will reach about 78°F.

  • Sunday: Another lovely day on the horizon with partly sunny skies and highs nearing 79°F.

What About Election Day?

With Election Day coming up, it’s heartening to note that there’s only a 30% chance of morning showers. The weather outlook looks mostly sunny, with temperatures expected to climb into the high 70s—a fantastic day to head out and vote!

Keeping an Eye on Hurricane Season

Don’t forget—we’re still deep in hurricane season, which officially ends on November 30th. While Tropical Storm Rafael would be the 17th named storm of the season—higher than the typical average of 14—experts are already predicting that next year’s hurricane season will be an above-average one, with over 20 named storms expected!

So stay tuned, Beaufort County! Weather changes rapidly, and we want you to be prepared. In the meantime, get ready for some rainy days ahead, but also some beautiful sunshine waiting right around the corner! 🌞
