Get Ready, Beaufort County! The Mosquito Control Squad is Here

Hola, folks of Beaufort County! You must have noticed an increased number of mosquitoes buzzing around after the downpour left behind by Tropical Storm Debby. But don’t worry, help is underway. The county is pulling up its socks to take control of the situation. So, say goodbye to evening bug bites.

Helicopter Approach to Mosquito Control

Beaufort County is leaving no stone unturned in this war against mosquitoes. They’ve got a helicopter ready to buzz around the county in an effort to control these pesky bugs. Yes, you read it right, a helicopter!

Those of you who feel the mosquito problem is getting out of hand, can put in a service request or dial voicemail at the county office. You can also hop onto Beaufort Connect and leave your information. Do remember, however, all areas need to meet a certain mosquito threshold before the guys can spray.

Spraying Details

Here’s the catch though, the county places traps throughout Beaufort to monitor the mosquito situation. So if your house is not near one of these traps, the county may need to place one near your residence to figure out if the limit has been reached to warrant a spray-down. A bit of patience might be required but it’s all for the greater good, right?

Mosquito Growth Explained

Did you know that a mosquito starts its life cycle in standing water and usually takes about five to seven days to transform into a biting adult? That’s right! So the sudden rainfall in places that previously didn’t have much standing water, caused a sudden boom in the mosquito population.

So guys, be patient, coop up with the county, and let’s beat these bugs together. We’re all in this together, after all. So, put on long sleeves, lather up with bug spray if you’re heading out in the evenings, and let’s show these mosquitoes they aren’t welcome in Beaufort County!
