The folks in Beaufort County have decided to champion the environment by organizing a free electronics recycling event this August 24th. It’s time for you to drag out your old laptops, cell phones, and all electronic gadgets that haven’t been in use and give them a new lease of life.
The event will be hosted by the Beaufort County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling. If you’re keen on participating, there are two venues to choose from. One at River Ridge Academy in Bluffton, and another at Beaufort County Public Works in Beaufort. The shindig kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.
Here’s a list of acceptable items for the recycling event:
However, do note that they won’t take items such as microwaves, vacuums, stereos, speakers, tuners, VCRs, DVD players, and lamps.
Don’t worry about the carrying and unloading, just stay within the safety of your car because the organized staff will take care of that bit. Got questions or need more info? Just give the folks at the Solid Waste and Recycling Office a call at this number – 843-255-2736 or check out their website.
This event in Beaufort County is a fantastic initiative for the environment, considering electronic waste is a major problem worldwide. Electronic waste is often just dumped in landfill sites, where it can leak harmful chemicals into the ground. So why not do your bit to help out? Not only will you be freeing up some much-needed space at home, but you’ll also be doing our planet a huge favor.
Remember, every little bit counts when it comes to saving our planet. So let’s all do our part to keep our beautiful Beaufort clean and green!
