Beaufort County Democratic Party Launches New Office in Beaufort

Here’s some news out of Beaufort, South Carolina, that’s got folks talking: The Beaufort County Democratic Party has gone ahead and popped open a new satellite office. You’ll find it right in the heart of the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce building on Bladen Street.

A Burst of Electoral Excitement

All this comes with the buzz of the 2024 general election zipping around the corner. And this year, there’s something special going on. Kamala Harris, a standout name in the Democratic Party, is running for president. Between you and me, if she wins, she’d be the first Black/Asian-American woman president in U.S. history. Talk about breaking the mold!

Women Powering up the Ticket

But it’s not just the presidential race that’s got people excited around here. Beaufort County Democrats are making waves with a full deck of candidates for local, S.C. House, and Senate elections. You won’t believe it, but nine out of their candidates are women, and eight are trying their luck for the first time.

Kathleen Hughes, the Beaufort County Democratic Party Chair, made it clear: “The enthusiasm around Kamala Harris is electric, but we want local voters to know the Democrats have impressive candidates up and down the ticket.” She emphasized: “People from all over the political spectrum who are ready for change have been reaching out. Opening a second office North of the Broad will be essential to supporting our candidates and staying on top of our organizing efforts on the ground.”

The Beaufort County Democratic Party got its home base at 39 Persimmon Street, Suite 201 in Bluffton. Now with their new digs at 711 Bladen Street, Suite 310 in Beaufort, they’re all set to better serve their supporters.
