Beaufort Local, Megan Morris, Named President of Regional Chamber of Commerce

Good news for the people of Beaufort – one of our own, Megan Morris, has been put in the big chair at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. This decision was met with nothing but nods from the Board of Directors last week.

Morris has been holding down the fort as interim president since November last year after the then-president, Ian Scott, left to take up a position in North Carolina.

The Board’s faith in Morris

2024 Chair and Site Manager for MCAS Beaufort, Nick Messenburg, couldn’t hide his excitement about the new appointment. He praised Morris for her drive and her determination to push the Chamber’s service to members up a notch.

“We believe Morris is committed to growing a solid professional team, within and outside the Chamber, as well as strengthening our partnerships with local, state, and national government officials,” Messenburg said. He confidently added, “There are many opportunities on the horizon for Beaufort, and with the Chamber at the helm, we can be a part of the solutions.”

Morris’ Journey to Presidency

Since August 2021, Morris has been doing some heavy lifting at the Chamber. When she started off as the Director of Member Services, her fine work helped her climb the ladder swiftly to Vice President. Now as President, the responsibility of running the Chamber falls on her shoulders.

The responsibilities are big but Morris is up to it. Her role as the executive chief means she’s in charge of all aspects of the Chamber – from daily operations to long-term strategies. And she’ll be reporting directly to the Board of Directors through the annually elected Chair.

Her Vision as President

“Years ago, I decided I wanted to work to better the community where I grew up. That was a career goal I set for myself,” Morris revealed. Talking about her plans ahead, she said, “The skills I bring to the Chamber will be of great use as we move forward advocating at the local, regional state, and national levels. I’m excited to make a positive impact on Beaufort during my time as President.”

It’s clear that Morris is all set to bring in her A-game to make Beaufort better. We, the people of Beaufort, only have good wishes to send her way.
