The Beaufort County officials have announced the appointment of a familiar face that many locals know and respect. Pinky Harriott will officially step into the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) starting November 25, 2024. This move has everyone talking, and for good reason!
The County Administrator, Michael Moore, couldn’t hide his excitement. He expressed, “We are eager to welcome Mrs. Harriott as our next CFO. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, along with an impressive record of community service.” With such confidence in her abilities, it’s clear that the county is set for a positive change!
Pinky Harriott isn’t just any newcomer; she is a true Beaufort native. Growing up on St. Helena Island, she graduated from Beaufort High School and has deep roots in this community. After earning a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management, her journey took off from there.
Pinky isn’t just a name; she’s a powerhouse in the world of finance! With over 14 years of experience under her belt in governmental accounting and finance, she’s already made waves in various state and local government agencies. Currently, she’s making her mark as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance and Human Resources at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. There, she has worked hard to oversee annual budgets, ensure everything adheres to fiscal policies, and optimize financial processes.
Innovative? You bet! During her previous stint as the Budget Director for Beaufort County, she launched the county’s first-ever Digital Budget Book. Not only did she streamline processes, but she also earned the prestigious GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award—a true testament to her leadership skills!
What makes Pinky truly special is her dedication to the community. She’s not just about numbers; she believes in giving back! A lifelong member of Rotary International, she currently serves as President of the Lowcountry Rotary Club, where she’s making a difference every day. On top of that, she’s an active member of the Beaufort Regional Chamber Board of Directors and serves on the Volvo Community Advisory Board.
When she’s not busy making financial magic happen, Pinky is a dedicated family woman. She and her husband, Bradley, have been happily married for 12 years and are the proud parents of three kids: Kalob, Gracie, and John. Family is everything to her, and it shows!
Pinky is buzzing with enthusiasm about this new role. “I look forward to embarking on this exciting new journey,” she said with a smile. “I am confident that my experience will continue to contribute to the mission of Beaufort County and expand our services to meet the needs of our residents. I’m excited about working with Mr. Moore and his fresh perspective and vision for our County!”
