Democratic Party Pops a New Office in Beaufort for Approaching Elections

As the 2024 general election starts humming, the Beaufort County Democratic Party (BCDP) makes a new move. They’ve just popped open a satellite office in Beaufort, on Bladen Street, to be precise. This satellite office will be part of the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce building. Now, this is a big announcement, more so as it’s coming at a time when we’re looking at Kamala Harris, our Democratic nominee for president. Making history, she’s the first Black/Asian-American woman running for the top role in American history.

A Historic Slate of Candidates

BCDP is making quite a splash this election cycle as they’ve got a full slate of candidates – local, S.C. House and S.C. Senate. We’re looking at nine women waving the Democratic flag, eight of them are first-time candidates. They are all charged up because this time they’re backed by a wave of enthusiasm around Kamala Harris.

Kathleen Hughes, the Chair of the Beaufort County Democratic Party, said, “The enthusiasm is electric around Kamala, but we also want local voters to know that Democrats have strong candidates on the whole list. We are witnessing a flood of volunteers, and people across political lines are showing interest. These people are yearning for change – the kind that Democrats can bring.”

The reason behind opening a second office ‘North of the Broad,’ she said, is to provide a concrete support to their candidates and effectively organize everything on the ground.

Where to Find Them?

The headquarters of BCDP can be found at 39 Persimmon Street, Suite 201 in Bluffton, and the freshly baked office is located at 711 Bladen Street, Suite 310 in Beaufort. If you want more information, check out www.beaufortcountydems.org.

Other Interesting Developments

Some other interesting developments to look out for are the announcement of City Councilman Josh Scallate’s mayoral run, confirmation of a tornado on Lady’s Island, or the joyous news of people returning after a long break. These are surely exciting times for Beaufort.

Get Involved!

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, it’s essential to get involved and make your voice heard. So, go ahead, sign up to volunteer, get registered, and most importantly, when the time comes, get out there and vote.
