Man Arrested in Shell Point for Fatal Shooting in Domestic Incident
In Shell Point, a local resident has been busted in relation to a tragic shooting that resulted in the death of a woman in a domestic matter on Thursday, August 1, 2024. The event has shaken not only the victim’s family but neighbors and community folks who knew her well.
Suspect Arrested, Victim Remembered
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) nabbed 37-year-old Brenden Elsila under warrants for Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. Elsila was arrested following an investigation into the death of 46-year-old Stephanie Fries, who hailed from Lady’s Island.

According to the BCSO, the incident happened just shy of 6 a.m. They received a report of a gunshot wound resulting from a domestic disagreement. Deputies rushed to a home on Shell Point Road, where they found Stephanie dead from a gunshot wound.
Elsila, who was present at the scene, was swiftly detained. Following their investigation, arrest warrants were issued, and Elsila was taken into custody without any major incident. He was then taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he remains confined as of August 6, 2024.
