Exciting Times in Phoenix: MLB Free Agency Sparks Big Moves

Hey, baseball fans! If you’re keeping a close eye on the MLB offseason, you know that things have been getting pretty wild out there. Teams are shaking things up with some seriously exciting signings and trades, and right now, all eyes are on the Arizona Diamondbacks and where they’ll be headed next.

Big Names Making Big Moves

This winter has brought a ton of fireworks in terms of player transactions. The New York Mets snagged outfielder Juan Soto from the Yankees, throwing around a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract. Talk about a jaw-dropper! Meanwhile, Blake Snell, the two-time Cy Young Award winner, decided to head to the Los Angeles Dodgers, swapping out his San Francisco Giants uniform for a shiny new five-year, $162 million deal. And if that’s not enough, the Dodgers also got their hands on outfielder Teoscar Hernández—keeping him around for another three years at $66 million.

But wait, there’s more! Former NL Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes just jumped on board with the Arizona Diamondbacks, signing a hefty six-year, $210 million contract. This kind of cash will definitely make some waves in the NL.

Welcoming New Stars

The exodus of big players from teams like the Giants and Yankees opened the doors for new stars to come on in. The Giants just inflated their roster with shortstop Willy Adames—who’s not backing down with a seven-year, $182 million deal. Meanwhile, the Yankees added ace Max Fried for eight years at $218 million and also brought in 2022 NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt on a one-year, $12.5 million deal. And just for kicks, they snagged outfielder Cody Bellinger from the Cubs to fill in Soto’s big shoes.

Speaking of the Cubs, they’re making moves too, trading for outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros. The Chicago White Sox are in on the action as well, recently shipping out pitcher Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox.

Who Else is Still Out There?

With all these big names floating around, there’s still a handful of noteworthy free agents just waiting to find their new homes. Here’s a little recap of some big remaining free agents:
