Feeling Festive in the Lowcountry: Real vs. Artificial Christmas Trees

As the holiday season approaches, the age-old debate of real versus artificial Christmas trees is heating up once again in our lovely Lowcountry. Many families find themselves on one side of the fence or the other, armed with strong opinions and holiday spirit! This year, if you’re still undecided about what kind of tree to bring home, maybe it’s time to consider the charm and aroma of a real Christmas tree. To help make your decision a little easier, we’ve rounded up five fantastic local farms that are ready to provide you with the perfect holiday centerpiece!

Sugar Mountain Farms: A Tradition of Frasier Firs

Located on Hilton Head Island, Sugar Mountain Farms has been a local favorite for 29 years! Farmer Mark Trivett brings down beautiful Frasier fir trees from Newland, North Carolina, right in time for the holidays. Open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., this charming spot on Wilborn Road offers not only trees but an experience of holiday magic that you won’t want to miss!

A & A Christmas Trees: Get Your Hands Dirty!

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to create lasting holiday memories, head to A & A Christmas Trees in Okatie! This family-owned farm has been growing lovely Leyland cypress, white pine, and Fraser fir trees. Not only can you select your perfect tree, but you can also cut it down yourself! They are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and even have a selection of wreaths and other holiday decor to spruce up your space!

Christmas Mountain Farms: The Final Countdown

For over 20 years, Christmas Mountain Farms has spread Christmas cheer. The owner, Kevin Brown, passionately cultivates this festive atmosphere. But hurry! Open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at 4354 Bluffton Parkway, this farm promises a delightful selection that’s perfect for your holiday decorating.

Bruno Landscape and Nursery: More Than Just Trees

If you’re on Hilton Head Island, don’t overlook Bruno Landscape and Nursery. This family-run plant nursery has been serving the community since 2000 and embraces the Christmas spirit wholeheartedly. While they have classic Christmas trees and wreaths, their selection goes beyond that! You can find stunning seasonal items like poinsettias, beets, and cabbage to add holiday flair to your home. They are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 109 Dillon Road.

Dreaming Farms: Photos and Fun!
