Exciting Holiday Season Ahead in Beaufort, S.C.

Beaufort, S.C. is gearing up for a festive holiday season, and there’s plenty of great news to share with residents and visitors alike! From free parking to community projects, the charming city is pulling out all the stops to ensure everyone enjoys this magical time of year.

Free Parking for the Holidays

Starting on Thanksgiving Day and running through New Year’s Day, the Downtown Marina parking lot will be offering free parking. Yes, you heard that right—free! The City Council recently approved a special Holiday Magic Parking Program to encourage shoppers to explore the delightful shops and restaurants that give Beaufort its unique charm.

This program isn’t just a one-off. As part of the initiative, visitors can enjoy two free hours of parking, once per visit, in any city-owned lot or on metered streets during the same festive period. It’s an easy way to enjoy a leisurely stroll while checking off your holiday shopping list!

How to Get Your Free Parking

Getting your hands on this fantastic offer is simple! Residents can either:

  • Cut out a free parking voucher from the Island News starting the week of Thanksgiving.
  • Look for the voucher in the city’s December newsletter, which will be distributed just before Thanksgiving.

Once you have your voucher, it can be redeemed for two one-hour tokens at the Park Beaufort office, located at 500 Carteret St. The office hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternatively, if you prefer a more tech-savvy approach, grab the ParkMobile app! When checking out, just choose the option for “apply promotional code” and enter the code BFTMagic to snag your two hours of free parking.

City Upgrade for Stormwater Management

$7.5 million to $11.9 million. This funding will support the Charles/Craven Streets stormwater project, aimed at tackling ongoing flooding and drainage issues.

This project is important not just for infrastructure, but for the overall wellbeing of the community. Construction is scheduled to kick-off in early 2025, with a completion deadline set for April 2026. As one of several operations currently in the pipeline, it showcases the city’s commitment to keeping Beaufort safe and sound.

Your Opinion Matters: Playground Improvements

Residents can weigh in through a quick survey available on Survey Monkey. Make sure to chime in before the survey closes on Monday, Nov. 25, at noon. Your thoughts could play a key role in creating a more vibrant and safe space for children to enjoy!

A Celebratory Season Awaits
