Beaufort Kicks off Heartwarming Holiday Campaign
BEAUFORT, S.C. – It’s beginning to feel a lot like the holiday season in our lovely town, and there’s a delightful initiative underway that’s sure to warm your heart. The Beaufort Memorial Foundation has launched its very own holiday campaign called the “Tree of Hope”, aimed at helping community members remember and celebrate their loved ones during this festive time of year.
What is the “Tree of Hope”?
So, what exactly is this “Tree of Hope”? Well, it’s a beautiful opportunity for residents to purchase a holiday ornament dedicated to someone special—whether to honor them or to cherish their memory. These ornaments will find a home on a special tree set up in either the main lobby of the hospital in Beaufort, the Beaufort Memorial Keyserling Cancer Center, or the Beaufort Memorial New River Cancer Center in Okatie. Talk about a touching way to spread seasonal cheer!
A New Holiday Tradition
This marks the Beaufort Memorial Foundation’s newest holiday tradition, aiming to create a space where patients, families, and healthcare staff can bond over cherished memories while paying tribute to those who have passed. “As a health care system, we see the extreme highs and lows in a person’s life. From the birth of a child to the death of a loved one, our team shares many of these experiences with our patients,” said Kimberly Yawn, Beaufort Memorial Foundation Associate Vice President.
Kimberly highlighted the importance of this campaign, saying, “We are excited to give our community an opportunity to honor a loved one or celebrate their memory while providing critical support to Beaufort Memorial. We hope our community will join us as we celebrate the season and make a lasting impact on health care.”
How to Get Involved
If you’re feeling inspired to participate in this warm-hearted campaign, you can purchase a “Tree of Hope” ornament until December 13 at BeaufortMemorial.org/TreeofHope. All proceeds will go towards enhancing patient care and improving healthcare access in the Lowcountry. It’s a wonderful way to contribute to our community while keeping the memory of our loved ones alive.
Hurricane Helene Recovery Efforts
Meanwhile, on a different note, those affected by Hurricane Helene should take note of a newly opened Disaster Recovery Center in Hampton County. This center is here to lend a helping hand to South Carolinians needing in-person assistance.
Disaster Recovery Center Details
Located at the Bull Durham Center at 380 Railroad Ave, Estill, the center will be open during select dates—specifically on November 26-27, November 29-30, December 2-5, December 7, and December 9 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., but remember, it will be closed on other days. It’s all about being there for each other when it matters most!
Seek Assistance
Residents in several counties affected by the hurricane can apply for federal assistance through FEMA, the state of South Carolina, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. No appointment is needed to visit the center, so if you have been impacted, don’t hesitate—come on down and see what help is available!
Support for Farmers Affected by the Storm
Additionally, farmers, foresters, and individuals in the agribusiness sector who experienced equipment damage due to Hurricane Helene are also eligible for disaster assistance from FEMA. Whether it’s tractors, seeders, or other essential tools, help is on the way—provided it was damaged by the hurricane, isn’t covered by insurance, and you can show the need for it.
Sun City Women Give Back
In even more community news, the 100+ Women Who Care Group in Sun City recently stepped up in a big way. They generously presented a stunning $18,800 check to Family Promise, a charity dedicated to assisting homeless families in building new futures. This is the spirit of the season, folks—working together to lift those in need!
What a whirlwind of love and support this season is shaping up to be in Beaufort and surrounding areas. Whether it’s cherishing memories, lending a hand to those recovering from a storm, or rallying to support families in need, our community truly shines. Here’s to a season of giving and heartfelt remembrance!
