This past Saturday, March 29, 2025, the community of Beaufort was buzzing with excitement as the annual Great Helicopter Egg Drop returned for its fifth installment! This much-anticipated event took place at Beaufort Academy’s football field, where nearly 20,000 Easter eggs rained down from above, creating an unforgettable moment for families and children alike.
Just imagine the sight: a helicopter hovering above, eggs tumbling down like confetti, and the thrilled cheers of children eagerly anticipating the big moment. Each colorful egg was filled to the brim with various delightful prizes, making this year’s drop even more special. The excitement boiled over as a race commenced, inviting kids aged four to eleven to scurry around and collect as many eggs as they could. With so many eggs hidden in the grass, every child had an opportunity to find something special!
What could be inside those eggs? Well, this year’s loot didn’t disappoint! Local businesses generously contributed gift certificates, making it possible for children to enjoy treats from places like Chick-Fil-A, Monkey’s Uncle, Kilwins, Cookies by Charlotte, and Beaufort Candy Shoppe. But that’s not all! Exciting toys and even scooters were part of the treasure waiting to be discovered. Children rushed around, their little faces full of joy and determination, all while carrying their newfound loot.
The event was a hit with over 1,000 local children participating, alongside their parents, guardians, and community members. Beyond the egg drop, the day was packed with a variety of engaging activities to keep everyone entertained! Bounce houses sprang into action, while talented balloon artists twisted up fun shapes for the children. The laughter could be heard echoing throughout the field as families explored the vendor booths, got their faces painted, and visited the heartwarming petting zoo.
And just when things couldn’t get any better, local food trucks made sure to satisfy every craving with a delicious array of food options. From savory bites to sweet treats, families were spoiled for choice when it came to dining options. Plus, who could resist snapping a quick picture with the Easter Bunny? Free photos with the beloved bunny were available, providing yet another souvenir from this memorable day.
Admission to the event was free, but children needed to pre-register to participate in the egg drop and various activities. This included access to one of six age-specific egg hunts, unlimited bouncing in the bounce area, and that adorable printed photo with the Easter Bunny. While there were additional costs for face painting and petting zoo adventures, the atmosphere was so vibrant that nobody seemed to mind. The event ran from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, giving families plenty of time to enjoy all the fun.
